Mass General Imaging is pleased to announce that effective Wednesday, March 6, 2013, the Radiology Order Entry (ROE) system will support scheduling for interventional procedures for both in-patients and out-patients. This new functionality will simplify the process of ordering, reviewing and scheduling procedures, and reduce the chances of error.

Beginning March 6, all orders for the following interventional procedures must be requested through ROE: abdominal, musculoskeletal, thoracic and vascular. Breast and neurointerventional procedures are not yet supported by ROE.

Important information about ROE and interventional procedures:
  1. Procedures can be ordered through a single site: http://mghroe

  2. ROE replaces all faxes, telephone calls and other scheduling methods.

  3. ROE provides clear prompts for all information needed to order a procedure.

  4. ROE allows users to request a specific date and radiologist for a procedure but does not guarantee availability.

  5. ROE automatically transfers all orders to a work queue for radiologist review.

  6. Once the orders have been reviewed for safety and feasibility, they are scheduled by an Imaging service representative, and the floor and/or physician and patient is notified of the date.

Most users are probably already familiar with ROE, but for first-time users, detailed instructions are available in the User Guide for Interventional Procedures (Download PDF).

Please remember to bookmark http://mghroe in your web browser for easy ROE access. If you have any questions or need assistance with ordering, please contact the Informatics Service Desk at 617-643-0003.
