- The didactic training program includes daily work rounds during which a topic related to a case being performed will be discussed in detail, including both procedural material and discussion of management and outcome data from the literature. These conferences are attended by all staff, fellow and residents.
- Cases from the extensive teaching collection, which has been built over a 30-year-period are discussed.
- In addition, there is a weekly formal lecture series in which members of the staff present topics of interest (Lecture 2003.xls).
- Participation in other hospital and departmental conferences is encouraged, and the general departmental teaching conferences are also available.
- Fellows are encouraged to participate in the teaching activities of the section, including supervision of residents in procedures, and formal lectures during the section’s resident teaching program.
- Evaluation of fellow performance occurs in an ongoing fashion, but formal evaluation is performed at mid-year and end-year. The fellows are also asked to evaluate staff performance.
