The Cardiovascular Intervention facilities include 4 primary procedure rooms, and 2 additional rooms that are shared with Interventional Neuroradiology. All rooms are equipped with digital subtraction angiography capability, physiologic monitoring and one room is OR standard for the performance of stent grafts and other procedures requiring combined surgical and IR approaches. A major reconstruction of the physical facilities will begin in April 2004, with replacement of multiple older procedure rooms. A large central Radiology recovery/holding area has recently been completed, and the department is well staffed with nursing personnel to provide conscious sedation and procedural care. All nurses in the department are critical care and/or ER certified, and several are pediatric specialists.
